"Lab Week is a time to honor the more than 300,000 medical laboratory professionals around the country who perform and interpret more than 10 billion laboratory tests in the US every year."
Before I started working at a diagnostic lab about a year ago, I thought my blood or pap sample from a simple check up get taken into a secret room at the doctor’s where medical assistants do their quick little magic and I get my result a few weeks later. Little did my little brain know, there’s a whole FIELD of invisible talented individuals who solely believe in patient care working on my samples to deliver me the most accurate results. Lab Week honors and brings awareness to these unicorns.
